“To Early On”

This piece was a multi-media performance series that stemmed from a poem I wrote. Starting with creating a public online safe space for people to share their SA stories anonymously or unanimously, they were then asked what their favorite flower was. From there, I created a bouquet of these people’s flowers and time-lapsed the wilting of the bouquet over time. With the dead flowers, I transformed them into resin pieces. This honors people’s traumatic experiences and the journey that follows, acknowledging the growth, death, and rebirth the mind body and soul goes through, and the hard path it takes to overcome trauma. That something in the end can be made beautiful out of all the sorrow.
